CBI Students Visit Electrical Apprenticeship Facility

Students in the Compact's Career Based Instruction Program (at Barberton High School) joined a group of other BHS students for a recent visit to the Akron Area Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee's (JATC) facility. Students learned about the center and training programs they have to prepare students for jobs as Electricians. Career Based Instruction students study a job preparation curriculum so they have a sound understanding of expectations in the workplace. They also get lessons on things like personal finance, and many have a job through the program (with their teacher acting as a job coach). Furthermore, they get exposure to opportunities like this one at the JATC that could lead to a good, in-demand job with a living wage and benefits upon graduation.
