An Important COVID Update from WCS

An important virus protocol update for Compact students attending programs at Wadsworth High School:

Good afternoon.  Last night, our board of education decided to require face coverings be worn by all students and employees for the next three (3) weeks.   The face covering requirement is only for when students or employees are inside of any of our buildings during the hours schools are in session. The requirement will start tomorrow, September 1.  If your child needs a face covering, one will be provided to him/her.  The board of education will meet again on Monday, September 20 to re-evaluate our COVID-19 data and make further decisions on how to proceed.

It's important to note that the board's decision last night was based upon how to best keep students and employees in school (out of quarantine) based upon the quarantine process we must follow, per the flow chart created by the Ohio Department of Health and followed by the Medina County Health Department.  The initial requirement for all is to try to get our numbers under control during what may be a peak period.  On September 20, the board of education plans to discuss what threshold to set (students in isolation or quarantine vs. total enrollment) for the superintendent to require face coverings within a building, once the initial period for all is over.

In addition, the board decided the following:

  • There will be no visitors or volunteers permitted during the school day during the three (3) week period of time, starting on September 1;
  • Our administrative team will continue to work on solutions to create space during student lunchtime; and
  • The open house at Central Intermediate School and Wadsworth High School scheduled for this week will be rescheduled.

If you have any questions relating to the new requirement, please let me know.  Thank you for your continued support of our school district.
