CBI Programs Provide Skills & Experience

The Four Cities Compact has two Career Based Instruction Programs one at Barberton High School and another at Norton High School. Students are introduced to the world of work in both the classroom (where they learn about soft skills and what employers expect) and true work environment. In these pictures BHS student Darrin Miller is doing his job at Service Iron & Steel Co. in Akron under the watchful eyes of Teacher Doug Wheeler and supervisor Tom Nader. Many of the paid jobs our students get are entry level positions, but they are great places to start and a way to get valuable work experience. In many cases they become a foot in the door to good local businesses that offer a living wage, benefits and chance to advance after graduation. Many thanks to Service Iron & Steel Co.!!
